When does online registration close?

Online registration closes on Wednesday 11/23 at 7:30pm. We do have day-of registration starting at 6:30am.

What do I need to pick up my race registration information? 

A photo ID is needed to pick up your race information packet as well as a waiver.  Waivers will be available on site when picking up your packet and online here.

Can I pick up bib number and T-shirt for another person? 

Yes, but you must bring a signed waiver & a copy of their ID for each person you wish to pick up packet materials for. WAIVERS AVAILABLE HERE - SIGN THIS AND PRINT BEFORE COMING TO PRE-REGISTRATION

What time does the race start? 

The event starts at 7:30am. Registration closes at 7:45am. You will not be allowed to enter the course after 8:15am. We are committed to supporting our homeless neighbors in need, rain or shine!

Where do I park? 

All parking lots in Balboa Park will be open on the day of the event. Street parking is permitted as long as you adhere to all street signs. We recommend getting there early as parking is more difficult to find starting closer to race time. 

Are there separate starts for Timed and Untimed participants?

Yes, Timed participants will start ahead of Untimed participants.  

Do you accept refunds?

No, we do not give refunds or offer transfers.

Can I walk the race?

Yes! We encourage you to come walk with your family.

Do children need to be registered? 

Children 5 and under are free on race day (no t-shirt or bib number/timing provided). However, our Youth pricing is for anyone ages 6 to 17.  All youth must be registered in the race to participate and receive an event t-shirt. Anyone 18 and up must be registered in the Adult Category.

Can I pick up my race information ahead of time?

Yes! We strongly encourage you to stop by Road Runner Sports in Kearny Mesa to pick up your T-Shirts and Bib!

Can I register on the day of the event? 

Yes, you may pre-register in person on Wednesday Nov. 23rd from 10am to 5pm at Road Runner Sports in Kearny Mesa.

On Thanksgiving Day morning, Thursday Nov. 24th, you can arrive and register starting at 6:30am. To avoid waiting in line, we encourage Online Pre-Registration or attending Road Runner Sports. Payment on site is accepted by cash, check, and credit card. 

Can I bring my dog to the race? 

Yes! Dogs are welcome provided they are on a leash with maximum length of 6 feet.

Please bring your dog to the Furry Friends Area to pick up Dog Bandannas, Dog Medals and plenty of other pet essentials for the 2016 Thanksgiving Day 5k!

NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES. Owners are responsible for their pet’s actions and for picking up after them. No pets in the beer garden and at no time can any race personnel or volunteer be responsible for your pet. Please be courteous and move to the side of the course to tend to your pet. 

Can we bring strollers to the race? 

Yes! Please be courteous to other participants and move to the side of the course to tend to a child. 

Please bring your kids to the Kids Area after the race! There will be jumpees, face painters, crafts and prizes!

Are there medals given at the race? 

Yes, there are medals given only to the top three TIMED male and female finishers in the following categories:

10 & Under, 11-14, 15 – 19, 20 – 29, 30 – 39 , 40– 49, 50– 59, 60– 69, 70– 79, 80 & Older

Only the top three timed male and female finishers are presented their medal on stage in the Awards Ceremony. Age group medal winners can pick up their medal at the Solutions Tent after the race. 

What if I have to leave before the Awards Ceremony/results are in? 

Results will be available at www.geminitiming.com

Is there gear storage? What shouldn’t I bring to the event? 

There is no gear storage for this event. Any items left unattended will be confiscated. It is recommended that you don’t bring any valuables to the event or bring a small bag that will not affect your 5k walk/run performance.

Can a family member join me as a spectator? 

Yes. However, ONLY registered participants are allowed on the course route at any time. Exceptions are children under 6 and dogs. 

Is there a Lost & Found?

Yes, found items will be kept at the Registration tent.
